POSITION SUMMARY:

The Service Foreman plays a key role in protecting and enhancing some of Portland's finest custom homes. As part of Don Tankersley Construction's (DTC) Home Maintenance and Special Projects team, you will provide exceptional service to homeowners through preventive maintenance, custom repairs, and small improvement projects that reflect the same level of craftsmanship that built the home. 

This position is ideal for an experienced residential craftsman who takes pride in quality work, enjoys solving problems, and values building long-term relationships with clients. You'll work independently while collaborating with a team that is committed to excellence, professionalism, and outstanding customer service. 

The successful candidate has at least five years of residential remodeling or construction experience, strong carpentry and finish woodworking skills, excellent communication abilities, and the judgment to represent DTC professionally in our clients' homes. This role requires a comprehensive personal tool set, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering a premium homeowner experience on every visit.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform scheduled home maintenance, inspections, warranty work, repairs, and improvement projects for DTC-built custom homes. 

  • Execute customized Home Care Plans, proactively identifying maintenance needs and recommending solutions that protect the long-term value of each home. 

  • Perform a variety of high-quality carpentry, finish woodworking, cabinetry, trim, drywall, painting, hardware installation, and other residential repair work. 

  • Deliver an exceptional client experience through professional communication, punctuality, responsiveness, and respect for each homeowner and their property.

  • Coordinate effectively with the Special Projects and Home Maintenance Program Manager, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure work is completed efficiently and to DTC's quality standards. 

  • Prepare accurate material takeoffs, maintain organized job documentation, and communicate project status, findings, and recommendations. 

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and professional manner while following company safety policies and OSHA requirements. 

  • Identify opportunities for additional maintenance, repair, or improvement projects and communicate recommendations to the Program Manager. 

  • Represent DTC with professionalism, integrity, and craftsmanship, consistently upholding the company's reputation for quality and service. 

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Minimum of five years of residential construction, remodeling, or finish carpentry experience, preferably with high-end custom homes. 

  • Strong carpentry, finish woodworking, cabinetry, trim, and general residential repair skills with a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship. 

  • Thorough understanding of residential construction methods, building systems, and trade coordination. 

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and manufacturer installation requirements. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and complete work independently. 

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills, with a professional and client-focused approach. 

  • High attention to detail and the ability to consistently meet DTC's quality standards.

  • Working knowledge of Oregon residential building codes, safety practices, and energy efficient construction methods. 

  • Proficient with basic technology for documenting work, material takeoffs, and communicating project updates. 

  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, a comprehensive personal tool set, and the ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.


Wage and Benefit Information:

The Service Foreman is a full time, hourly position. Wage range is $33-$38 per hour, DOE. DTC offers the following benefits: medical and vision benefits, paid time off, 401(k) with employer match, employee bonus program, tool allowance, and phone reimbursement.
